MATERNITY SESSIONS FAQ
HOW MANY WEEKS IS IDEAL FOR A MATERNITY SESSION?
We like to schedule maternity sessions between 28 to 35 weeks. Although timing is different for everyone, we recommend coming earlier rather than later because you never know when your baby will actually arrive!
HOW SOON SHOULD I PLAN TO BOOK MY SESSION?
We recommend booking at least 2-3 months in advance, but it is never too early to book your maternity session!
WHERE IS YOUR STUDIO LOCATED?
We have two studios! One studio is located in East Providence, RI and one studio is located in Salem, NH!
WHAT DOES THE PRICE OF YOUR MATERNITY SESSION INCLUDE?
The All-Inclusive Motherly Portraits Maternity Experience begins at $449 and includes:
- A Pre-Session Planning & Design Consultation
- Professional Hair Styling and Makeup (including lashes!)

We offer all of our clients interest free payment plans to make any experience “budget friendly.”

DO YOU PROVIDE THE WARDROBE FOR MY SESSION?
Absolutely! We have a beautiful selection of dresses, outfits, fine silks and fabrics for draping, as well as form fitting bodysuits, lace robes, etc. that are all exclusive to our studio! Most everything you see pictured on our website we provide, plus some!
CAN MY PARTNER OR MY CHILD BE IN THE PICTURES?
Yes! We actually encourage him to not miss out on this experience. We do ask that if you are bringing your child or children, to please bring in help to keep them occupied.
WHAT SHOULD I WEAR FOR MY MATERNITY SESSION?
After booking your maternity session, we will send you our Welcome & Preparation Guide so that you will know exactly what to bring, which isn't much at all! We are a full service studio, so you don't need to worry about bringing many items with you to your session.
DO I HAVE TO BE PHOTOGRAPHED NUDE?
Absolutely not! We take precautions from special undergarments and editing skills to have a finished “nude” look while ensuring your comfort levels. Because our maternity sessions are customized to the wants and needs of each client it is absolutely your choice/preference as to how you want to be clothed and photographed!
SHOULD I BE CONCERNED ABOUT EXTRA WEIGHT (CHIN, ARMS, THIGHS) AND STRETCH MARKS?
Not at all, we've got your back here!! Professional retouching is included in your session so you don’t have to worry about blemishes, stretch marks and certain body contours. Our attention to detail makes you look and feel as if you came straight out of a fashion magazine.
THIS IS MY FIRST STUDIO PHOTOGRAPHY EXPERIENCE. WILL YOU GUIDE ME AND HELP ME WITH POSING?
We hear this from so many of our clients. We absolutely do our best to be sure you feel comfortable, relaxed, and confident! During your shoot we will guide you through every pose and focus on the angles that flatter YOU the most. You will never have to wonder what to do or where to place a finger!
I WOULD LIKE TO TAKE SIMILAR IMAGES/POSES THAT I SAW IN YOUR PORTFOLIO. CAN WE DO THAT?
Absolutely! We actually encourage our clients to choose some of their favorites from our portfolio! You are welcome bring in your own ideas as well, however we ask that your ideas stay within our style. If there is a certain photo you love just let us know!
WHAT IS THE TURNAROUND TIME?
Approximately 2-4 weeks after your photo session we will schedule your virtual photo reveal appointment. This will be the very first time that you get to see all of your gorgeous images and pick out your favorites for retouching, your album, folio box, keepsakes, or wall art! This is by far our most favorite part of the whole entire process!
Then, it takes about 2 weeks to receive your gallery of fully retouched and artistically edited images! Then about 2-4 weeks for all of your products (albums, folio boxes, wall art, etc) to be delivered!
