Top 5 Reasons Why I Love Studio Maternity Photos
Maternity and Motherhood photography are some of my favorite genres to photograph. There is something so special about a woman in this stage of life, and I love being able to capture that beauty in camera. With my background in fashion editorial photography, I've incorporated those same techniques to create some stunning studio maternity portraits.
Now, I'm sure I'll make my way into the "wild" outdoors and do a shoot where the sun is shinning and I'm actually touching grass or pavement, on an outdoor shoot. But for now, let me give you my Top Five reasons why I think studio maternity photos will always be my first choice.
Reason #1 Has to do with the lighting. When you are in a studio, you have complete control over the lighting. This means that I can create the perfect lighting conditions to make my client look her best. Soft, flattering light or something with a little more pop for a high fashion style photoshoot, I am able to achieve this in my studio.
Reason #2 Not having to deal with the weather. We live in New England. That should be the end of the 2nd reason why I love studio maternity work. New England can be absolutely erratic when it comes to weather changes. In a studio, we are not at the mercy of the weather. If it's raining, snowing or blowing a gale outside, it doesn't matter! We can still get those gorgeous maternity photos that you've been dreaming of. Try doing a maternity photoshoot in Rhode Island or New Hampshire in the dead of winter? (Actually... a maternity winter wonderland is going on my Photographer's Bucket List of shots I need to take.)
Reason #3 Has to do with wardrobe. When you are having your maternity photos taken in a studio, you have the option to wear a variety of different outfits. You're not going to find a spacious dressing room at a state park and no I'm not letting you change in a tiny public stall! Having your photo session in studio gives you a chance to switch from what your wearing. From something casual to change into something more dressy, depending on what kind of look you are going for.
Reason #4 Is my amazing glamsquad! When you book a studio maternity session with me, you also get the benefit of having my hair and makeup team there to make sure you look your best. They will help you pick the perfect style for your shoot and make sure that you are feeling relaxed and confident in front of the camera.
Reason #5 Has to do with the overall experience. When you have your maternity photos taken in a studio, you can relax, get pampered, and enjoy the experience. We have a fridge stocked with sparkling waters, snacks, music playing in the background. There is no need to worry about the weather or any other external factors that can ruin your photos. You can simply focus on enjoying this special time in your life with our team and capture amazing images.
